Nick and Drew are well on their way to opening up Cincinnati’s newest drinking establishment in the latest episode of Lachey’s Bar, which aired on A&E Wednesday at 10:30 EST. In this episode, they work on learning how to serve beverages on their own in order to give the bar a more personal feel, as well as take part in one of the cities most iconic yearly events.
The two headliners of this year’s Zinzinatti Oktoberfest are sharing the news with their two closest friends, one of whom suggest that the former 98 Degrees members should possibly learn how to bartend, in order to serve the first drinks on opening night for a more enthusiastic effect. The boys get permission to step behind the bar of the place they are currently drinking at, only to fail miserably at making their friends the drinks they request.
In order to pull out all the stops of making Lachey’s Bar a success, Nick and Drew decide to take a bartending class to improve their skills. This does not go much better, and it is clear the two still have quite a lot to learn in regards to the alcoholic beverage business. Given that there is a bet on the matter, however (their friends must pay for opening drinks should Nick and Drew succeed at bartending during Lachey’s Bar’s opening night, and the opposite should they not), the two businessmen are determined to hone their skills and become experts at mixing drinks.
While contemplating this, the two Lachey’s Bar stars must still put the finishing touches on their variation of the chicken dance, which is required in order to host the aforementioned Cincinnati beer festival. What the boys do not know, however, is that there are also several contests involved in this event; who can hold up a beer skein the longest, and who can down the most bratwurst while competing against a well-known town champion. They both lose these contests, with Nick beating his brother in each.
They take their newly improved bartending skills to Drew’s home, where his wife Lea is having a girls night with her friends. Normally, Drew admits, he would stay far away from these events, but given that he knows the ladies will be drinking, it is a fine opportunity to show off what he and Nick can do. They eventually pull it off, and the women are very impressed with the cocktails they have been served.
