Jimmy Fallon’s guests on the Tonight Show this Thursday were the brilliant actor Tom Hanks from the upcoming flick, Bridge of Spies, and actress Jessica Chastain, who is one of the stars of Crimson Peak. Fallon performed scenes from Bridge of Spies that kids wrote who did not know what the movie was really about with Tom Hanks. Also, the musical artists who performed were the band, Pentatonix; who sang the opening theme song.
Jimmy Fallon began the Tonight Show by walking out onto the stage to a standing ovation from the studio audience. Then, Fallon welcomed the audience, and told them, “You’re here! You made it!” He performed his monologue, joking about topics like Hillary Clinton remaining the Democratic front-runner. Trump said that he wanted to now have Secret Service protection.
Lincoln Chafee was all hyped up to be interviewed by Wolf Blitzer from CNN. However, Blitzer laid into them, saying, “when are you going to quit?” and “You’re going to look silly if you stay in the race.”
Fallon said, “A lot of candidates are trying to use social media but some don’t know really how well to do it.” Fallon showed a clip of rand Paul getting asked an embarrassing question about “Are you still in the race?”
Fallon talked about more Chinese people are living the American Dream. He said, “You know it’s really bad when more people in China are living the American Dream than Americans.”
Then, Fallon did his weekly Tonight Show Superlatives comedy segment, about what NFL players were Voted Most likely to Do or Be. Dont’a Hightower from the Patriots was Voted Most likely to Wake Up and Think He’s Being Attacked by Giant Gummy Worms.” Fallon said that “Rob Bronkowski from the Patriots was Voted Most Likely to Have His Eyes and Ears Pop Out When You Squeezed Him.”
At his desk, Fallon said that Bruce Willis will be on the show tomorrow. Tom Hanks will be a guest tonight. He and Hanks will perform scenes that kids wrote based on the title of his upcoming film, Bridge of Spies. He said Jessica Chastain from Crimson Peak will also be his guest, and Pentatonix will perform.
Jimmy Fallon started the hashtag, #WhyDidISayThat Some of the tweets were:
“Got on the elevator with someone I thought I’d meet before. I said, ‘We met again.’ We hadn’t met before.” Another one was “Looking for love? I saw a sign that said MontoFri. My friend said that means Monday Through Friday.” Yet another one was, “I went to a drive thorough and was placing a long order. Then, I realized I was talking to a garbage can.”
Following a commercial break on the Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon introduced his first guest, actor Tom Hanks. “Please welcome, the best of the best, Mr. Tom Hanks, Ladies and gentlemen!” Fallon said.
He told Fallon “It’s my first time on the show.”
Hanks talked about being at a restaurant and seeing Fallon and yelling at him. Fallon said, “You were wearing a beret, right?”
Hanks said that he had been, tha tit was wintertime, and he was told he should wear something on his head, because that was where the most heat came out of a person.
“Did you see Higgins at the SNL 40th?” Fallon asked.
Hanks said, “Dude! I was sitting in front of Keith Richards of The rolling Stones and behind Paul McCartney.”
Fallon talked about tying Hank’s shoes as a joke, and then Hanks gave him $20. “Most of your films I listen to, but don’t even watch. It’s like an old-time radio show.”
Hanks talked about kids with their parents, and the parents would tell them, “This is Woody!” They would not believe their parents, until they closed their eyes and Hanks spoke a line or two from the movie.
Fallon then chatted with Hanks about The Bridge of Spies, directed by Steven Spielberg. He showed a video clip from the movie. Hanks said in the clip, “If we send this guy to his death, we’ll leave ourselves wide open. No policy in our back pockets.” It looked like the movie will be an intense and exciting one.
When the Tonight Show came back on after another commercial break, Jimmy Fallon and Tom Hanks acted out scenes from Bridge of Spies that were written by kids who had no idea what the actual movie was about. They were now both wearing Berets.
The segment was called Kids Theater. In the first scene, Hanks was the spy, and Fallon played “the man.” Fallon asked, “Can I be a spy?”
Hanks said, “No, this bridge is too full of spies, already.” It was actually pretty funny.
The second one was sent in by Jack, 7. Hanks played Margaret, while Fallon played Joe. Margaret walked up to Joe and Joe said, “Hi, Tim — I mean, Margaret.”
“How can you keep confusing me with your brother when you’ve been going out with me for years?” Margaret asked.
They did one more, in which they were both spies. Hanks said, “I can see spies coming from a distance!”
Fallon said, “If I had binoculars like you did, I could see them, also.”
“I told you that you should have brought them!” Hanks said.
“No, you didn’t!” Fallon said.
That was just a bit from each of the scenes, but all three were pretty funny. Check out the video below to see all three, in full!
Back from another break on the Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon introduced his second guest, actress Jessica Chastain, from Crimson Peaks. Fallon showed Chastain on the cover of a magazine called W.
Fallon said that Chastain was often confused with an actress from Jurassic World. They talked about it, and how Chastain sometimes pretended that people who thought she was the other actress were “right.”
Crimson Peak was directed by Guillermo Del Toro. She and Fallon talked about the creepy movie, and she said that she would not mind being in a comedy one day.
Then, Chastain mentioned that she had friends flown out to Toronto for a weekend to help her celebrate her birthday. Fallon showed a clip from the movie, and it definitely looks like it will be a pretty creepy flick, perfect to see at this time of the year.
After another commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced the musical group, Pentatonix. They sang Can’t Sleep Love off of their album, Pentatonix: The Album. They were pretty AMAZING, as they sing everything a cappela, and also make the sounds of instruments with their voices. They had a big hit with their Christmas album and this one should also be a big hit for them.
Fallon kept on saying, “Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!” after they finished singing.
Besides the incredible performance by Pentatonix, Jimmy Fallon’s other guests were actor, Tom Hanks, and actress Jessica Chastain. Hanks and Fallon talked about the upcoming movie Hanks stars in, Bridge of Spies. He interviewed Chastain and they talked about her flick, Crimson Peak. It sounded like a perfect creepy horror movie to see around Halloween.
