Manchester United are continuing their bad streak of games after losing to Watford 3-1 on Sunday. This game was the third loss in a row for ManU, and it stands out as a very troubling period for the Reds. Marouane Fellaini, the current midfielder on the team, has expressed his concern after the last defeat, saying that this team can’t afford to lose three straight games, according to ESPN. Nevertheless, he continued by saying,”It’s still early, it’s the start of the season still. We haven’t even played 10 games yet, but we absolutely have to win.”
Manchester United are currently seventh in the Premier League, which is far lower than what they had hoped for prior to this season or even after a few games going in the season. Jose Murinho is experiencing these losses after three years of winning the Championship, so this news comes as a surprise to the fans and the players alike. The next chance for the Manchester team to show their true colors will come in the EFL Cup against Northampton Town.
There are many thoughts on why Manchester United dropped off so quickly and so low, most of which have to do with their leader, Jose Murinho. According to Express, the players suffer from the strong coaching style, for which Murinho is known for. He has mocked his players on multiple occasions. Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa are three examples that are currently public. After the recent loss against Watford, Murinho threw a few of verbal jabs to Luke Shaw, which has gained attention as well. Sir Alex Ferguson would usually argue with his players in private. It’s hard to say who crossed the line here, so only the future will tell how it works out for both parties.
Louis Van Gaal, who has been managing the players after joining in 2014, might be another possible factor in this equation. Many of the fans and critics alike have stated that the former Porto leader has created some confusion by changing the player positions. Rooney was put in midfield, for instance, even though it’s clear that he’s always excelled in attack primarily. These position changes were definitely upsetting for the fans, who are living to see this legendary team win again. Murinho is now focusing on Rooney as his weapon, but there are still other excellent players in United, recently joined individuals like Mkhitaryan and Pogba, for example.
What do you think of the recent trouble that Manchester United is facing? Do you agree that they’re going down or is this just temporary? What do you think Jose Murinho should do to improve the team in these dire times? Let us know in the comments section below.
