Mike Pence’s official contact information is going viral across social media and the reason why is epic. Pence’s contact info is being shared far and wide on Facebook and Twitter as users encourage others to donate to Planned Parenthood in his name.
With Pence’s contact information, those donating can ensure that Pence gets a notification of the Planned Parenting donation that was made in his name, reports CNN. The nonprofit organization has confirmed that people are not only tweeting and sharing the information on Facebook they are donating to the cause. Since the election, nearly 50,000 donations have been made in Pence’s name.
Cecile Richards, the president of the Planned Parenthood Foundation, says that the organization has received an “unprecedented outpouring” of donations in Mike Pence’s name since election day. Throughout his election campaign, president-elect Donald Trump, repeatedly stated that he would appoint supreme court judges who oppose abortion. He even hinted that he would do what he could to see that Roe vs Wade was repealed and returning all legality of abortion back to the states.
According to PEOPLE, the Planned Parenting Federation of America is a non-profit organization that provides reproductive health services in the United States and around the globe. It also offers other healthcare services such as abortion, cancer screenings, contraception, and sex education.
Mike Pence, who is pro-choice, is no stranger to people protesting his stance. Many people have protested him especially after he signed a bill into law that mandates that the remains of both aborted and miscarried fetuses be buried or cremated. After he signed the bill into law women flooded his office with phone calls to update him on their menstrual cycles.
A Facebook page was even created called Periods for Pence. The page has since been renamed Periods for Politicians. It currently has over 85,000 fans who post to the page their reproductive health issues.
The campaign to donate in Mike Pence’s name to Planned Parenthood began receiving wide attention after Bethany Cosentino, of the band Best Coast, shared that she had made a donation in Mike Pence’s name. Not long after, other celebrities began following suit. Both Amy Schumer and Amber Tamblyn shared their donations across social media, reports the Indy Star.
Ali Slocum, the communications director for Planned Parenthood, says that close to 90 percent of donations since the election have been made in Mike Pence’s name. She adds that Pence will receive a notification of all donations to the nonprofit that are made in his name at his office in the Indiana Statehouse.
