The Golden Globe Awards had some memorable moments, but perhaps none were more shocking or fun for fans than seeing Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield kissing in the background as Ryan Gosling headed to the stage to accept his award for Best Actor in a comedy or musical. All three men were nominated for Best Actor, with Garfield nominated in the Drama category for his role in Hacksaw Ridge, while Reynolds and Gosling were nominated in the Comedy and Musical category for their roles in Deadpool and La La Land, respectively.
While Ryan Gosling may have been the only one of the three to take home the Best Actor award, it looks like Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield decided to comfort each other with a kiss. As the Best Actor in a musical walked on stage to accept his award, eagle-eyed viewers seemed to immediately catch on to the fact there was something happening between the two actors in the background.
As New York Daily News reports, while it was supposed to be Ryan Gosling’s time to shine, the supposedly secretive kiss between Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds was truly a scene stealing moment. While the kiss may have been a brief moment, it not only had Blake Lively laughing, but it set social media ablaze as it seemed to solidify the idea of “SpideyPool” for many fans.
With Andrew Garfield having portrayed Spider-Man in two movies in 2012 and 2014 and Ryan Reynolds playing the pansexual character, Deadpool, some fans have often brought the two together in a manner that would seem to suggest the two could share a romantic relationship. There have been plenty of drawings and cartoons that have suggested the two heroes have some tension between them and for fans who saw the two actors kiss at the Golden Globe Awards, this was a chance to see the aptly named SpideyPool, come to life before their eyes.
Although the moment was certainly about Ryan Gosling and his win for La La Land, it was clear that there was still some fun to be had in the audience. With Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds getting the chance to lock lips, some fans have even called for Marvel to take the men’s actions as a chance to finally explore the relationship between Deadpool and Spider-Man in an upcoming film. Whether or not that were ever to happen, fans of the two characters together at least have this epic kiss to look back on as their chance to see SpideyPool in real life.
