If you have already bought a Coachella ticket with hopes of seeing Beyoncé perform, we have some very bad news for you. A very pregnant Queen Bey has announced that she is cancelling her 2017 Coachella performance, under doctors’ orders.
If you’re bummed out that you’re going to miss the Lemonade singer’s performance this year, we have some very good news for you. The R&B songstress will be headlining the annual desert-festival next year, giving you just enough time to save for overpriced tickets, hotel and airfare, and elaborate hippie-themed ensembles to dance in the dirt to Single Ladies until the sun goes down.
Ever since Mrs. Knowles-Carter made the bombshell announcement that she was pregnant, with twins, it has left Coachella producers and ticket holders with the question if Beyoncé will still be performing at the festival that takes place over two weekends in April. Fans were split on whether Beyoncé’s ethereal goddess themed Grammy performance was a showcase on how she could possibly pull the Coachella performance off while others were convinced that it was clear that by the time April comes, Yonce would be too far along in her pregnancy to withstand the event.
On Thursday, in a statement to The Associated Press, Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and festival producer Goldenvoice released a statement about the singer’s decision. Queen Bey is following doctors orders to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, and in doing so Beyoncé has no choice but to cancel her performance at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The statement went on to announce that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival instead.
There is no word on who will be replacing the queen. Although Bey won’t be performing, there are still acts like Kendrick Lamar, The xx, Future, and Radiohead to keep festival goers entertained according to E! Online. If that isn’t enough for ticketholders, it’s a good thing that the announcement was made while there is still time to sell your ticket and not at the last-minute where you’ll just have to be disappointed.
Fans are elated that the pop songstress is adding to her family but some are hesitant to see what it brings. There have been predictions that we won’t be getting another album for a very long time and others speculate that the 35-year-old singer may retire soon to raise Blue Ivy and her two new additions to the family.
Hopefully it’s the opposite and the singer is actually in the studio right now getting ready to give us another album to hold us over while she enjoys being a new mom again. Who do you think should replace Beyoncé at Coachella? Let us know in the comments!
