The Chicago Bulls just took a hit to their roster, and a brutal one. One of their stars has just been sidelined, Dwyane Wade. His short career with the Chicago Bulls just took a turn for the worse.
Wade will not be available to play tomorrow, and the day after that and the day after that. He might not even be back by the end of the season. He suffered an injury to his right elbow. It was originally diagnosed as “hyperextension”, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Since being labeled a hyperpextension, the Bulls just found out bad news. Dwyane Wade‘s elbow injury is now classified as a sprain and a fractured elbow. It will bring his season to an end on the spot.
The Bulls’ stars’ injury occurred in their game yesterday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Chicago ended up taking more than just a loss to the Grizzlies. Their biggest loss on the night was the injury to Wade.
With Wade out, it could have a negative impact on the Bulls’ shooting game. He has been front and center of their offense. They will miss the 18 points a game that he has been shooting for them this season.
The loss of Wade could also fracture the Bulls hopes for the playoffs. Right now they sit tenth place of the Eastern Conference. They are a losing team, going 32-36 on the season. Their nearest competitor is a team that Wade is very familiar with the Miami Heat.
Wade left the Miami Heat in 2016 after a dispute in contracts. After spending 13 years playing for Miami, he then headed to the Bulls. Miami is ahead of Chicago, as the ninth place team of the Eastern Conference, going 33-35. Wade’s former team is tied for the final spot in the conference playoffs.
Going forward, the Bulls will attempt to keep their heads above water through the rest of the week, and maybe even cut the Heat’s lead. It may not be an easy task, given that they are short one of their top shooters. The good news is that today the Bulls will have a day of rest.
Tomorrow they will be preparing to play the Washington Wizards. Washington is at the top of the standings of the Eastern Conference as the third place team. They found themselves in the mix of the fight for first place between the Cavaliers and Celtics. The Wizards are going 41-26 on the season, trailing the Cavaliers by just over three games. Washington has dropped their past two consecutive games.
Can the Bulls maintain their team with Dwyane Wade injured? Will Wade’s injury have an effect on his career with the Bulls? Share our thoughts in the comments below.
