One member of the New Orleans Saints team is on the move. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks will no longer be seen on the field for the Saints. He will be playing for a different team next season.
The Saints just completed a trade deal that will send Cooks packing his bags. The receiving team of Cooks will be the New England Patriots, according to NBC Sports. There may not be many fans of this recent trade, including Cameron Jordan of the New Orleans Saints. He appeared to be unhappy when he found out the news. Following the trade he posted a tweet that read “Maaan thats so weak” Right after that he continued to say, “We get it … Nobody’s safe.”
He may be onto something. If New Orleans was willing to part ways with Cooks, there could be more moves to come. The off-season is not finished yet. The Saints will have time to make additional roster tweaks.
For the Patriots, the trade for Cooks may make sense. He could make a good mix on the Patriots’ team. Cooks will make a great fit with the rest of New England’s offense. New England has some of the best in the game with Julian Edelman, and Danny Amendola.
With Cook, the Patriots just got better. In addition to good hands, he can provide some speed for the Patriots. Adding him to their team was a costly move, they had to pay a deep price by giving up a first and third round pick in order to pick up the former Saints receiver.
The Patriots have had a loud off-season while some teams have remained quiet. They are not afraid to improve their team and take risks. Their willingness to get better may be revealing how seriously they are taking their 2017 campaign.
They already reached unthinkable distances this year. One of them was when they came back from a 25 point deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons and win the Super Bowl. It marked their second championship in four years. The Patriots are still thinking like winners even though they had already had a massive amount of success.
On parade day, Tom Brady promised fans for another championship, which would be his sixth with the team. This off-season it appears that New England is gearing up for that sixth championship run. The Patriots are going full force. If there offense was not hot enough before adding Cook, it may of just got more hotter. There will be some serious decisions for New England to make including deciding what impending free agents they will resign or let go.
Are the New England Patriots finished yet? Will the New Orleans Saints need to add another wide out? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
