CDA News reported yesterday that star running back Marshawn Lynch could be making a return to the league. He has been out of the game for a year, but next season that could be changing. There is one team that has high interest in him, the Oakland Raiders.
Lynch might just have high interest in the Raiders as well. They are his home-town team. It remains to be seen if he wants to play for the Raiders badly enough to end his retirement, and play football again. It is not impossible, but it would take a few things to fall into place.
First off, if Lynch elected to return to football, he would be with the Seattle Seahawks. He will be on their roster since the Seahawks own his NFL rights, according to CBS Sports. They would have the power to cut, or trade him. Marshawn Lynch would have to be permitted by the Seahawks to be traded to the Raiders, or to be released from the team, and then Oakland could pursue him. Releasing Lynch for sport would seem a little one sided.
At the end of the day it will be the team’s decision. Lynch could request to be traded. His relationship with the Seahawks was solid before he retired, but it would seem odd for them to surrender one of the best backs around to another team easily. There could be many steps involved in order for Lynch to play for Oakland, but it could happen.
Right now it is pointing towards the unlikely side. Recent reports are saying the Seahawks may not have the intention of giving up Lynch easily. Its reported they have no interest in cutting him from their team, but they would trade him for the right price.
That price could be costly for the receiving team. It could be one player, two players, and maybe even a sack of money. To sum it up, if the Raiders want to add Beast Mode to their team, they are going to have to collate an irresistible deal. It would have to be a deal that would be an instant yes for the Seahawks.
Oakland’s off-season could get big if they can pick-up Lynch. Lynch would come as a serious improvement to their offense. He could hold down their run game. He did it for the Seahawks for years, unlike anyone else, and even better than anyone else. He could be the Raiders unstoppable force, and maybe even the type of addition the Raiders need to go the extra mile next season.
Will everything fall in place? What kind of deal could the Raiders pitch to the Seahawks to acquire Marshawn Lynch? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
