It is official – Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik will be back, joining their fellow cast members through Season 12, as they have both signed new contract deals to re-up on the hit CBS sitcom. By signing the contract deals, Rauch, who plays Bernadette Wolowitz and Mayim Bialik, who plays Sheldon’s live-in girlfriend, Amy Farrah Fowler, will continue on with the series, and continue adding their immense comedic and dramatic talents to the mix.
USA Today reported on Friday that the Big Bang Theory’s Rauch and Bialik have signed new contract deals, though so far, neither CBS nor Warner Brothers Television have commented about the exact details of their contracts. It is not as if the pair have been exactly hold-outs, but they did want to get paid higher salaries, more in line with the approximately million dollars per episode that the other five main cast members of the series are being paid.
The five other cast members of Big Bang Theory who had already resigned contracts and will continue with the series are Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Simon Helberg (Howard), Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Kunal Nayyar (Raj), and Kaley Cuoco (Penny). It had previously been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that they had agreed to give up a portion of their salaries to help pay for the raises they felt that Bialik and Rauch deserved, in order to keep them as members of the cast.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the amount the other five cast members agreed to pony up was $100,000 each per episode. Doing that would have placed the salaries of Rauch and Bialik in the range of $425,000-$500,000 per episode. Whether that was included as a part of Ruach and Bialik’s latest salary increase has not yet been commented on by the cast members.
It was just last month, in March, that CBS announced the renewal of Big Bang Theory for two more seasons. CBS also is using the series to introduce a spin-off, Young Sheldon, which will follow the half hour show. It will be about the life of Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon Cooper as a boy genius, growing up in Texas, and will be narrated by Jim Parsons. Parsons will also be the executive producer of Young Sheldon, and Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro are the creators of the new series.
One of the reasons why Rauch and Bialik have been paid lower salaries than the other main five cast members of Big Bang Theory is because they have not been with the series from the very beginning. Both actresses joined Big Bang Theory in the third season and become regulars in the fourth. While that is true, both of the actresses are valuable additions to the cast and have become fan favorites over the years.
Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik have officially both signed new contracts and will be back on Big Bang Theory through Season 12. The roles of Bialik’s Amy Farrah Fowler and Rauch’s Bernadette Wolowitz have steadily grown with each season of Big Bang Theory. Amy, a neurobiologist, is now living with her boyfriend, Sheldon, and Rauch’s Bernadette got married to Howard and they had a baby daughter together.
