Former MSNBC and ESPN reporter/commentator, Keith Olbermann went on a rampage Monday against Donald Trump and his bombing campaign of a Syrian airbase. On the GQ YouTube channel called The Resistance with Keith Olbermann, the host starts right off calling Trump’s “bombing of an Assad airport” a stunt that the media fell for.
In the seven and a half-minute video, Olbermann points out a number of problems with the bombing of the airport in Syria. He starts by pointing out that the Trump administration, or “gang,” confirmed that the Russian’s were warned in advance of the attack. He follows this with news that the Syrians knew, or guessed to move their chemical weapons out of the target zone. Olbermann draws the conclusion that since Russia backs Syria and Assad, that they told them of the coming attack. However, while Syria and Russia knew that cruise missiles were coming, the U.S. Congress and the State Department had no idea what the President was doing. Olbermann calls the fact that Russia and Syria knew, but the U.S. Congress did not as Donald Trump colluding with the enemy.
And this stunt, according to the former ESPN Sportscenter guru, did not stop the Assad regime from using chemical weapons and that it was Trump propaganda. And it was just four years ago that Trump sent out a series of tweets condemning Syria for exactly what he just did. Two months prior to the cruise missile barrage, Trump banned refugees from coming to the United Stated. A week ago, the Trump administration said that the removal of Assad was no longer the plan of the United States, and finally, Trump blamed Barack Obama for the Syrians using chemical weapons.
Less than 24 hours after the missile attack, Syria was using the runway and the base again for missions. The U.S. launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles and could not stop the base from being used again? According to 79 U.S. senators, the attack was a good thing and applauded President Donald Trump.
On April 8, via Twitter, Trump stated that hitting runways is not a normal target because they are cheap and easy to fix. Olbermann questions that, stating that one never targets the runways that their air force use to take off and land on. With 59 missiles, that entire base should have been leveled, unusable, not back up and running less than 24 hours later.
However, following this attack, media outlets praised him, even saying that he truly became the president with this attack. Olbermann blames this on the state of the government now, because things are so different with Trump in the White House, that when missiles fly, it is something familiar and real and must be good. However, by not digging deeper, much of the media missed a barrage of tweets Trump sent out directed at Obama in 2013 and 2014, one of which said that attacking Syria would be bad, gain the U.S. nothing, and will cause bad things to happen.
The senators who are praising Trump for attacking Syria are the same senators who were against Obama for even considering action against Assad four years ago. And to top things off, Trumps SuperPAC was using the missile strike to raise campaign funds.
This video is not a one and done by Olbermann. This, his most recent, is his 57th video in a series that started during the presidential campaign. The videos average out to about eight or nine minutes each, and are worth watching. Keith Olbermann is passionate about his dislike and distrust of Donald Trump and is not bound by a major news outlet to reign himself in. For those who loved to watch him on MSNBC, these videos show the real, unfiltered Olbermann that America needs to listen to.
