Missouri authorities say that an illegal immigrant and another man have been arrested and accused of the kidnapping and rape of a woman with autism. The woman was repeatedly raped while being held against her will.
Luis Arnold Lopez-Lara, 25, and Helmer Alexander Erazo, 23, were arrested. Missouri police said that Arnold Lopez-Lara is an illegal immigrant. The two men allegedly kidnapped the 22-year-old woman after she left her residence, reports FOX 4.
Police said the woman was walking past a mobile home when the two men told her to come inside and offered her some alcohol. A third man warned the woman to stay away from the two men.
The woman, Terra May 22, told Missouri authorities that she was held against her will for three days. She adds that Lopez-Lara raped her repeatedly. Allegedly Lopez-Lara repeatedly gave the woman beer until she was drunk. May says that she fought the two men off, but they told her if she continued to resist they would kill her.
May also informed police that Lopez-Lara and Erazo starved her for the three days. She said they tried to give her Mexican food, but she didn’t want to eat that so they only gave her water and a candy bar. May says on one of the days she hid in a closet, but Erazo grabbed her and slammed her against a wall, reports Breitbart.
Several individuals who live in the neighborhood told local media that they now fear for their children’s safety and cannot believe something like this happened in their neighborhood.
Lindsey Smith, who lives relatively close to where this incident happened told the media that she won’t let her daughter ride the bus because she doesn’t want her out in the Missouri neighborhood unsupervised. She added that to have this happen “literally in her backyard” is frightening. She said the two men live so close she could throw a stone at them. She called the incident “horrible,” reports Crimeonline.com.
Smith adds that the neighborhood has never had something like this happen before. She said all the time she has lived there she never felt unsafe or felt the need to lock her doors or car. She added that the Missouri neighborhood is certainly not the neighborhood that she grew up in anymore.
Lopez-Lara and Erazo have been charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, and rape. Lopez-Lara is facing deportation. Police state that two other men, who were witnesses to the kidnapping, are currently awaiting charges.
Lopez-Lara is being held by Missouri’s Greene County Sheriff’s Office without bond. Erazo is being held on a $150,000 bond.
