The Boston Celtics may have the intention of making a deep playoff run. They have run into one little obstacle as of late. That obstacle is the Washington Wizards. They are making the Celtics work hard.
Boston took the first two games of the series of the second round, but their lead did not last forever. Heading into Game 5, the series was even out 2-2. Washington came back from a two game deficit. Entering the sixth game of the series Boston held the lead again 3-2, but they were handed a loss by the Wizards again in Game 6. The difference in Game 6 was just a point as Washington defeated the Celtics 91-92, but it may have been the most important point of the series, according to the Boston Herald.
The Boston Celtics have led their series against the Wizards by a lot. They have also led their series by a little. Leading the series no longer applies for the Celtics. Boston is in a quite different position.
For the first time this postseason, they are facing elimination. The series is split even 3-3. Game 7 will be a crucial game for both sides. The team that wins will not have to pack their bags, they will keep their season alive, and advance to the next round of the playoffs, the conference finals.
The team that loses will pack their bags, their season will be finished, and they will not get the opportunity to compete at the conference finals. It is safe to say the stakes could not be much higher.
The only thing that matters now for the Celtics is Game 7, if they want their season to last longer. If they can not find a way to win, it will be too late. There will be no chance at a trophy for Boston.
This season is important for the Celtics team. They are hunting for a NBA Title. Right now they just might have the team together that has been the closest to looking like a championship team since Boston’s last title. It has been almost a decade since the Celtics last look at a trophy.
The last time Boston won a title was when Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce played on the team, in their 2008 season. Allen and Pierce are long gone for the Celtics these days, they both retired. Right now the Celtics are hoping that Isaiah Thomas can help get them there.
Thomas is the face of the team, and the Celtics leading scorer. He has carried the Celtics team quite a distance, but it remains to be seen if he can lead Boston to a Championship.
Can the Boston Celtics escape Game 7 with a win? Does Boston have what it takes to reach the finals? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
