On Sunday, May 7, the final movie trailer that will be released for the upcoming movie, Wonder Woman (Warner Bros.), debuted during the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. In the latest trailer for Wonder Woman, fans get to see Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot) before she took on that name, when she was “simply” Diana.
According to E! Online, in the Wonder Woman trailer which debuted during the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards, Diana is seen when she was in her younger teen years. The daughter of Zeus and Queen Hippolyta (played by Connie Nelson) is trained to become a warrior princess by her mother and aunt (played by Robin Wright) in the action-packed trailer.
The final Wonder Woman trailer also shows the young Amazonian princess being told by her mother she should “distrust men and the world.” Her mother, Queen Hippolyta, warns Diana that she should “Be careful of mankind.” She adds that mankind does not “deserve” her.
According to Variety, the Wonder Woman trailer, lasting two minutes and 34 seconds, was somewhat of a surprise. Other trailers that previewed during the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards show included one for It and a clip for Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Most of the final trailer keeps its focus on Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Diana, and contains plenty of “sweeping, epic action shots.”
One of the coolest parts of the Wonder Woman trailer is when fans get to see a glimpse of the movie’s main villain, Dr. Poison, who is played by actress Elena Anaya. In the flick, set in the early years of the 20th century, Diana leaves her island home of Themyscira, and along with her romantic interest, American pilot Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, they both try to prevent a world war from beginning. The latest and final trailer for Wonder Woman does not have Steve Trevor in it.
The DC comic book superhero, Wonder Woman, made her debut in the 2016 blockbuster movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In an interview with W Magazine, Gal Gadot said she did not know when she auditioned for the movie that the director, Zack Snyder, was looking for an actress to play Wonder Woman. She said that “six or seven girls” were being auditioned that day she did a camera test.
Wonder Woman’s final trailer debuted on Sunday evening during the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. Fate had it that Gadot was the actress who was ultimately chosen for the role of the Amazonian princess.
