Country and pop singer, Kelly Clarkson, 35, will be a new coach on NBC’s The Voice, but not until season 14, next spring. The Grammy winner has already issued a warning to Blake Shelton, 40, a coach and fellow country musician, besides being one of her friends, that she has plans to beat him. It had been rumored that Clarkson would be joining up as a judge on ABC’s reboot of American Idol, but Shelton and Clarkson made a joint announcement on Facebook Live in a witty exchange revealing that she will, instead, become a coach and judge on The Voice.
People reported that NBC announced on Thursday that Kelly Clarkson will be a coach for the 14th season of The Voice, one of the network’s most popular reality series. In a statement, Clarkson said that she was “excited” to become a coach on The Voice. She mentioned that she had been approached about being a coach in the past, but said that the “timing” had not worked out until she was offered the job for season 14, possibly referring, in part, to her being pregnant when the idea had previously come up.
After Shelton Facetimed her, Kelly Clarkson joked with him, saying she was “finally not knocked up” so she could join the show as a coach. Shelton joked back, asking her if she could “stop getting pregnant every five minutes please?”
Clarkson followed up Shelton’s playful jab by saying she was now “done having children.” Shelton through in one last jab, telling Clarkson if she could make it through a year without again becoming pregnant, “that would be great for all of us.” It looks like the timing will finally be right when season 14 of The Voice rolls around, assuming that Clarkson is actually done, for now, with adding another child to her growing family.
Besides Blake Shelton, Clarkson will be competing against returning coach, Adam Levine, and a yet-to-be-named fourth coach. Currently, Kelly Clarkson is busy working in the studio on her latest album. She has served as an advisor and performer on The Voice before, but never as a coach.
NBC announced this past Wednesday that musical artist, Jennifer Hudson, will be a coach on the upcoming 13th season of The Voice this fall. CNN reported that Hudson, like Clarkson, are former competitors on American Idol. American Idol has not yet announced who will serve as the host and judges of the reboot. The other coaches will be Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
Fans of country and pop singer, Kelly Clarkson, are looking forward to next spring, when the musical artist becomes a coach on NBC’s The Voice. This spring marks the 12th season for The Voice. The current roster of coaches are Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine. Viewers can catch season 13 of The Voice on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Mondays and Tuesdays.
