Earlier this week, NBC announced that they would not be renewing the new series Timeless for a second season. This lead to much disappointment and the series ended up trending on Twitter as everyone seemed to turn up in order to express their outrage over the network’s decision. Even celebrities were offering their outrage and even Eric Kripke, the show’s creator, chimed in saying that they were looking to find a new home for Timeless. However, it looks like fans can now rejoice as NBC has taken back their decision to cancel and the series and has instead renewed the show for a second season.
According to E! News, it turns out that Eric Kripke and the rest of the cast and the crew no longer need to find a new home because NBC has decided to give the show a second chance to entertain viewers. While there is no clear indication as to when Timeless will return for its second season, at least fans can now rest easy knowing that the series will be back for more episodes in 2018.
Eric Kripke and his fellow series creator, Shawn Ryan, both took to Twitter in order to rejoice with the fans who all seemed to help save the show from ending prematurely. The men sent a “huge thanks” to the network for their support at this time. They also thanked their fans for all of their support. He said that the fans’ support is a major reason why Timeless will be coming back for a season two. The shows’ creators even offered to find roles for Leslie Jones and William Shatner, who both supported the series and expressed their disappointment at the original cancellation news.
Season two of the series will apparently consist of 10 new episodes. The show will also be getting a new time slot, moving it out of the 10 PM slot and pushing it to a much more family friendly spot at 8 PM.
Although there is not much more news about Timeless and its future, at least viewers and fans can be assured that the series actually does have a future to look forward to. For fans who thought their voices would be unheard, it looks like NBC has proven this to be untrue and by joining forces on social media and getting the show trending, it proved that there really is a strong fan base who want to see more of the time traveling adventures.
