New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady may have appeared in good health last season for the most part. A recent source, his wife is saying otherwise. Brady may have battled more than just a few minor injuries in his 2016 season.
Brady did end up missing some game time last season but it was not related to injury, it was because of suspension. The Patriots quarterback was forced to serve a four-game ban in the start of the team’s season, after appealing for over a year. It may not have been the best way for the Patriots to kick off a new year but they were prepared.
New England had the next best quarterback to turn to, Jimmy Garoppolo, a promising young athlete. Although he fell to shoulder injury before Brady’s ban was up, New England still managed to go 3-1. When Brady finally did return, he appeared to be in good health.
Towards the end of the season, and beginning of the postseason, Tom Brady did battle minor shoulder, and knee injury. On the bright side, he was able to play through it but it turns out those were not the only injuries Brady suffered. Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen said that he also suffered from a concussion last season, according to ESPN.
It was not a first time thing for New England’s quarterback either. He has a history of concussions. On Wednesday Bundchen told reporters, “He had a concussion last year. He has concussions pretty much every — I mean, we don’t talk about it. He does have concussions,” “I don’t really think it’s a healthy thing for a body to go through that kind of aggression all the time. That could not be healthy for you.”
Brady having concussions does not come as a surprise either, although he seems invincible at times, he is human. For Brady to suffer from a concussion last year would make sense. He took a lot of hard hits to the ground. He might of even been sacked the most out of his past five seasons last year.
Bundchen did not clarify if those concussions were football related, or medically diagnosed. It may not interfere with Brady’s plan going forward. He revealed in the past that he does not plan on retiring anytime soon. The Patriots even expect him to play three to five more seasons.
Just two days ago Brady said himself that he expects to play into his 40s. Right now he is just 39-years-old. Last season behind Brady the Patriots were able to complete their revenge tour as they came back from a 25 point deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl in overtime, and had the trophy hand delivered to them personally by Roger Goodell.
It marked New England’s second Super Bowl in the past four years. On celebration day Brady promised fans for a sixth Super Bowl Championship. Going by what he said a few days ago it appears that he plans on making good of his promise to fans.
