The first trailer for the upcoming ABC series, Marvel’s Inhumans, has been released and while the action seems minimal, it certainly seems as if there may be a lot of story to tell. Of course the big news revolving around this particular series has less to do with the story itself or even the characters and more to do with the fact that the show has been shot using IMAX cameras and will be premiering first in theaters before it begins its season on ABC at the end of September.
For fans of the Inhumans comics the fact that these characters are finally getting some love on screen is exciting, but this particular trailer was perhaps less engaging than some might have hoped for if the comments that went along with the trailer on YouTube and other social media sites is any indication. With very little action showing off just what these characters are capable, it seems to have left some viewers wondering if the series will be better or not.
The surprise star of the Inhumans trailer was actually Lockjaw, as the teleporting dog helped to bring members of the royal family to earth. These are characters who have never really had their story told on screen before, so there is a lot of material to potentially work with and it certainly seems as if the series will be diving into what brings the royal family to earth and the threat against them which seems to be coming from the inside. With a house clearly divided, the members of the Inhumans royal family who find themselves separated on earth will seemingly have to find their way back together in order to help save their people and their way of life.
With this being a first trailer one might have hoped for more action or excitement in order to draw people in. Instead, based on many reactions of viewers it seems as if this video has fallen short. While some fans are excited for the Inhumans to hit their screens in the fall, there are plenty who are hoping that the next teaser from the network offers some juicier moments. For those fans looking forward to the series premiere after seeing this first trailer, there are two ways to see the first two episodes. First there will be a two week IMAX theatre run starting September 1, which will offer the first two episodes. Then there will be the network debut on September 29, which will be the two episodes that were offered in theaters for those who chose to wait.
