With less than a month until San Diego Comic Con 2017, announcements are coming in regarding not only the collectibles attendees can get their hands on, but also what panels will be taking place. On June 29, Disney announced that they will be bringing DuckTales to the convention. With the reboot of the classic animated series on the horizon, it makes sense that Disney is hoping to get audiences excited and what better way than to get some of the voice actors and producers together for a panel dedicated to the show.
The original DuckTales may have only run between 1987 and 1990 but it has long been considered an iconic animated series from the time. Following the stories of Scrooge McDuck, his nephews, Huey, Louie and Dewey, and many of their friends, the series was the anchor show for Disney’s animated afternoon block of programming at the time. The idea for a reboot of DuckTales has been in the works for some time and is set to finally hit small screens this August.
Now, as Screen Rant reports, San Diego Comic Con attendees will get the chance to get a sneak peek at the new series during the show’s panel scheduled for July 21 at 3:30 PM. The panel will feature David Tennant, Danny Pudi and Ben Schwartz, who voice Scrooge McDuck, Hewey and Dewey respectively. Other members of the voice cast who are currently scheduled to be there include Kate Micucci and Beck Bennett who voice Webby and Launchpad. The other two members of the DuckTales panel is Matt Youngberg the Executive Producer and Francisco Angones the show’s Story Editor and Co-Producer.
Beyond getting to hear from members of the cast and the creative team, the panel will also feature some exclusive sneak peaks at the reboot. At the same time the panel will address bringing the series about this adventurous family of ducks to an entirely new generation of viewers.
Although it will be a challenge for the reboot of DuckTales to live up to the legacy of the original series the recent trailers and videos certainly seem to give the show a fighting chance to succeed on its own merits with the talent it has been able to gather together. The reboot is set to debut with a one-hour episode on Disney XD as of August 12, which means it will not be long before audiences will get the chance to decide for themselves if the reboot lives up to the original.
