Donald Trump may be losing control. Staff members at the White House are witnessing the signs of his presidency coming to an end, possibly. Reports are coming out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., from staffers, that President Trump is yelling at televisions.
If the Commander-in-Chief is near a television saying something negative about him, his administration, or reporting on the Russia inquiry, he gets mad, and allegedly verbally assaults the screen. A while back there were rumors that his staff would hide negative news stories, even make up positive news stories to keep the president happy. MSNBC’s Morning Joe program has openly speculated that Trump has some sort of disorder, brain damage, or worse.
Just about everything Trump does, points to some sort of disorder. When one looks at the Russia investigation, it points to something very fishy. Now, while the President has the power to fire whomever he wants, when that person is possibly investigating him or his staff, it can look a bit fishy. When he fires multiple people, then it looks like an admission of guilt. That is exactly what is going on with Donald Trump. First, he was warned by Sally Yates that there may be an issue with one of his staff, and Trump fired her. Then, after publicly stating, repeatedly, that he was very happy with FBI Director Comey, he turned around and fired him while he was investigating Trump’s staff and potential connections to Russia.
Now, the new investigator, Bob Mueller, is potentially in his sights and the media, Congress, the Senate, and everyone else in the world is waiting to see if he pulls the trigger or not. When Mueller was appointed to take over the investigation, everyone, Democrat and Republican alike, even Trump, applauded the move and the man, saying there was no one more fair than Mueller. Then there was a leak from the investigation that President Donald Trump was now under investigation.
Suddenly, Trump went from praise to condemnation, calling this investigation a witch hunt. He is even trying to deflect the blame by using Twitter to say that the man who told him to Fire Comey is the same man who is now investigating him for firing Comey. That would be Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, because the Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, has recused himself from the investigation and offered to resign, because of his connections to Russians. Now, according to The Hill, Rosenstein is ready to recuse himself.
But the potential ties to Russia, either by Trump or someone from his campaign, and the possible obstruction Trump has brought upon himself by firing anyone who he feels is getting to close to him is only one facet of Trump losing control. Since day one, following the first time Trump sent his press secretary, Sean Spicer, out to relay inaccurate information and the “alternative facts” issue was born. Spreading information that was not true seemed to make Trump feel better, like whatever he said was true, whether it was or was not.
Trump also seems to be determined to turn back anything that former President Barack Obama did during his eight years in office. The entire time Obama was President, Trump questioned if he was truly an American citizen, demanding to see his birth certificate. After taking office, he said he was past that, but it looked like since he could not get Obama out of office over his birth certificate, he will just undo anything the former president did. This includes pulling out of the Paris Accords, which is focused around Trumps denial of climate change. Trump wants to go back to coal and cut funding from the EPA, which would create thousands of jobs in the mining industry, but also potentially cost tens of thousands of green sector jobs. He is trying his best to repeal Obamacare with something that will make the rich richer, but not adequately cover all of the American people with affordable health care that works. Trump also repealed Michelle Obama’s healthy school lunch program.
It seems like since Donald Trump could not get rid of Obama as president over his birth certificate, he has decided to undo everything he can that the former president completed during his eight years in office. Claiming that he is making “America Great Again,” he is undoing things that help the American public, and not adding to what the previous administration had done, like most presidents would.
The confusion behind Trump’s actions do not even stop there. From incoherent, late night tweets, to being physical with a foreign leader for a photo-op. Donald Trump is treating the office of the President of the United States like one of his businesses, and the problem with that is, President is not a business. Trump has demonstrated repeatedly, that he does not understand the political world, he does not understand the concept of the Judicial branch and Legislative branch are there to keep the President of the United States in check. He has expressed the idea that as President he can do anything he wants and not get in trouble for it.
Trump calls the media who reports the facts, fake news, typically when they are reporting negative news about the president. If people on Twitter are negative towards the President, he blocks them. One man, author Stephen King, has repeatedly bashed Trump and the President blocked him. It is clear to many that Trump is more suited to reality television than the Oval office, but right now, America is stuck with him in office. What can be done about that?
Bob Mueller is investigating Trump, and if his investigation turns out to show that the president broke the law, a recommendation will go to Congress or the Justice Department on what to do, whether it be criminal charges or worse. Lawsuits are coming in stating that the President has broken constitutional law, which could lead to, again, obstruction charges or worse, and Congress and the Senate are looking at impeachment proceedings. Many signs point to the end is near for Trump, the real question is, how much longer will he be in office? Mike Pence, the Vice-President of the United States has even retained consul, reportedly to help with a potential transition into the Oval Office.
