On Tuesday, a Port Richey, Florida woman in Hillsborough County, Marissa Ashley Mowry, 25, was arrested for allegedly having sex multiple times with a boy, 11, up until this year, when he turned 14, and also having a baby with the boy. The sexual relationship with the 11-year-old boy allegedly began in 2014, when Mowry was 22. Their child is now almost three years old.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the first time Mowry allegedly had sexual intercourse with the boy was at a residence located in Hillsborough County, Florida, in January 2014. The police arrested Mowry in Tampa, outside the Busch Gardens theme park. Mowry did not offer up any resistance and went along with the police officers peacefully. Jail records indicate that Mowry works at the theme park “as a food attendant.”
According to People, Mowry’s child, who is now almost three, was born in October 2014. In a statement, the sheriff’s office said the child will be placed with an adult who is “responsible.” There has been an investigation launched into Mowry’s ongoing sexual relationship with the underage boy and it is being assisted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Child Protective Division.
KRON 4 reported that in April 2017, police were tipped off by someone who called a Pasco County abuse tip line anonymously to give them information about the alleged sexual encounters. Then, the Pasco County deputies sent the information to the police in Hillsborough County, where the first sexual encounters allegedly occurred.
Mowry initially blamed the 11-year-old boy for the first time they had sexual intercourse together, saying she had a cold then and was on a combination of Amoxicillin and Benadryl. She told deputies that the boy had forced himself on her, that she was sleeping and when she woke up, discovered the boy was “touching her sexually.” She added the boy began having sexual intercourse with her, despite her telling him to “stop.”
During a recorded conversation she had with the boy, she told him she had never said he had forced himself on her. According to arrest records, the phone call was being listened to by investigators on the other line.
People reported that jail records indicate that the police in Florida charged Mowry with having committed “sexual battery of a victim under 12 years old.” Mowry has not yet secured the services of an attorney nor has had one appointed to her. Also, an initial court date has not yet been made public.
According to the New York Daily News, on Wednesday, the police filed an additional 14 charges against Mowry. The additional charges included 11 counts of having committed sexual assault by an adult custodian against “a victim 12 years of age and under 18 years of age,” and three counts of having committed sexual assault “by an adult over 18 years of age with a child under 12 years old.”
Sexual battery is a capital offense in Florida. The charge carries “a mandatory life sentence,” if Mowry is convicted.
Ever since 2014, the 11-year-old involved in the sexual relationship with Mowry has continued to have sexual intercourse with her up into 2017, when the alleged victim turned 14. Though Mowry now lives in Port Richey, Florida, she lived in Brandon at the time when the first sexual encounter she had with the 11-year-old boy allegedly happened, the same town where the boy lived.
