It is just a month away until San Diego Comic Con 2017 (SDCC) kicks off and in the lead up to this year’s convention there have already been plenty of announcements regarding some of the exclusive collectibles that attendees will be able to get their hands on. With the success of Wonder Woman in theaters, it makes sense that some companies might want to capitalize on the film and its ability to capture people’s imagination and interest.
As Heroic Hollywood reports, there have been a number of exclusive collectibles announced such as Funko Pop!’s newest exclusive figures featuring such characters as those introduced in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Stranger Things and even some very special DC and Marvel figures. Now it looks like Mattel is also getting into the action of offering some special exclusive SDCC figures with two new superhero figures, Wonder Woman and Cheetah.
According to the release from Mattel it would seem that attendees of SDCC will be able to get their hands on a “12-inch Super Hero Girls figure pack” that will specifically feature Cheetah, who has often been an adversary of Diana Prince’s superhero, and of course Diana Prince as Wonder Woman. The purpose of Mattel’s “Super Hero Girls” pack is to focus more on the younger Comic Con attendees.
The Mattel Cheetah figure will feature a more modern type of outfit with cheetah print wedges and capri pants, as well as a cellphone. Cheetah’s tail very nearly wraps around her body and she also has her signature markings on her face and leg. For the Wonder Woman figure, the superhero will have her signature shield and lasso of truth. The figure even has a blue cape to go with her ensemble.
The designs for the figures are in no way based on the new DCEU film and are instead considered to be a more generic design based upon the comics and previous toys. Instead, this a way to get younger Comic Con attendees and even classic toy collectors a chance to own an entirely new version of these two signature characters.
Fans of Wonder Woman, as well as Cheetah, who are attending the 2017 San Diego Comic Con can already start pre-ordering the super hero pack from Mattel. On the Mattel website the two pack is $45 and people attending the convention can pick up their order at the company’s booth during the event, July 20 through the 23.
