Erin Elizabeth McAuliffe, 25, a former math teacher at North Carolina’s Rocky Mount Preparatory School was arrested and charged with three G felony counts of sexual activity with a student and one F felony count of indecent liberties with a minor in connection to three students at the school. According to NBC4i, McAuliffe had sexual contact with three male students, two 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old.
McAuliffe was last employed at the school on May 4. The following day, administrative staff contacted local police to report the possibility of inappropriate behavior between the teacher and the three students. Police investigated the allegations by speaking with other students as well as members of faculty.
Authorities determined that the inappropriate sexual activity took place off school grounds. Following the investigation, warrants were issued. On June 8, McAuliffe was served with the warrants and later charged.
After her arrest, McAuliffe was held in the Carteret County, North Carolina jail. Her bond was set at $20,000; she has bonded out. Her next court appearance is scheduled for June 12 in a Nash County District Court. If convicted, McAuliffe could face up to 5 years in prison.
