Saturday Night Live (SNL) star Kate McKinnon shared on Late Night with Seth Meyers that the summer hiatus from the NBC comedy show is killing her with everything that is going on in Washington. The Ghostbusters actress was busting at the seems to provide a little recap of what has recently occurred, but before that, Meyers had a question for the comedian.
Meyers pointed out that not only did McKinnon portray Kellyanne Conway this past season on SNL, but she also took on the impression of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. McKinnon said that she was always able to make her lips go a certain way, and when Sessions came into the publics eye, she was excited that she could use her weird lip talent to impersonate him multiple times on the late night comedy show.
Meyers asked McKinnon if she had a favorite to impersonate, and she said it had to be Sessions, but most fans of Saturday Night Live would likely agree that her favorite impersonation was that of Trump’s Democratic opponent from the election. During the campaign, McKinnon portrayed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and gave an emotional rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah after Clinton lost the election to Trump. Taking up the Kellyanne Conway role on SNL, there were times McKinnon seemed to be longing for her rendition of Clinton.
Meyers asked Kate McKinnon if it is hard being on hiatus with everything that is going on and that led to her recapping part of Sessions’ testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee, which appeared to be very satisfying for the actress.
In the video clip, McKinnon also reveals that there is a character insider her, dying to come out, that she has been trying to get on Saturday Night Live for years, only to be shot down over, and over again. Check out the clip below to find out who this mystery character is.
