It is official. Donald Trump has failed to fulfill any promise he made to his supporters during the campaign. There is no border wall, his travel bans keep getting blocked, and his promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare has failed. On top of that, Trump, members of his senior staff, and his press staff have lied to everyone.
Looking briefly at the Southern Wall, or, the U.S./Mexican border wall. This wall was suppose to be built or at least under construction by now, but it is not. The wall was going to be paid for by the Mexican government, but now, tax payers are expected to pay for it, with a promise that Mexico will pay the U.S. back later. Even if they did pay for the wall, that money would never go to the American tax payer. The border wall is a joke. There is already one there, and while it may not be perfect, it is there. A new wall may initially keep illegal crossings from happening and stop some of the drugs from coming over the border, but no mater what kind of wall is put there, sooner or later people will find a way to bypass the wall.
The travel ban that Trump has tried to initiate, basically saying that the home of the brave and land of the free is closed because someone might be a terrorist, has been blocked or changed by the courts every time it has been initiated. Thinking that someone bad might, possibly come from one of these “bad” countries is not a reason to close the borders. Having a legitimate threat that someone from any country could be traveling to the United States with the intent to harm is the only time a president should close the borders, and even then, most law enforcement would not want the border closed, they would want to locate and arrest the said terrorist. Closing the borders just because is a cowardly act and gives terrorists a win.
Obamacare is stronger than Trump realizes. Donald Trump has made it a mission to undo everything President Barack Obama did over his two terms. The crown jewel? The Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. While Obamacare is not perfect, there are more people in the United States who now have insurance coverage than before it was put into play. The Affordable Car Act was designed to get as many people insurance at an affordable rate, and be built on. The idea was for future administrations to come in and add to the bill, tweak parts of the bill to make it stronger and better for the American people. But instead, Trump has wanted to get rid of it. His solution is one that will end up hurting most of the American public, and for the top 2 percent, pad their pockets with more money through tax breaks. But Trumpcare continues to fail in the House, according to Bloomberg, and no one will support it, so Donald Trump has decided to “let Obamacare continue until it fails.” He originally wanted to just go ahead and repeal it without something backed to replace it, but that would be suicidal for the American people.
As for lying, it seems like every time the president opens his mouth, he is going to stretch the truth, say something that is not so, and when questioned about it, typically through the White House Press room, will attack the media for reporting fake news. This is something that shows how thin Trump’s skin really is. Someone from The New York Times reports that the president’s ratings are the lowest of any president, Trump fires back calling the publication a failing company that produces fake news, and then reverts to things that happened earlier in his presidency, like the inauguration crowd, saying it was the largest in history, which it wasn’t.
The newest way Trump has lied is really concerning. Besides the revelation by his son, Donald Trump Jr., and members of his staff trying to hide a meeting with the Russians during the campaign, it turns out that during the G20 event in Germany last week, following public meetings with Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, Trump and Putin had another meeting that was not disclosed to anyone and has just recently been discovered to have taken place. Details behind this meeting are not known at this time, but it is highly improper and should be troublesome for every single citizen if the United States.
To be fair, Trump did do one thing he promised during his campaign, and that was to get a new Supreme Court justice appointed. But that is it. It is beginning to look like Trump will not get any of his other campaign promises done in his first year as President. In fact, after Trumpcare failed this last time, the President actually said, “Eventually We Will Get Something Done.” That was all but admitting failure.
