At San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow panel offered some insight into what fans can expect to in season three. This included offering up some spoilers and even sharing the news that two of the show’s villains will be making a comeback in the third season. One of those villains is none other than Captain Cold, Leonard Snart, played by Wentworth Miller, who was actually a member of the Legends of Tomorrow before he sacrificed himself for the team at the end of the first season.
Joining Wentworth Miller in the third season, according to Entertainment Weekly, is Neal McDonough who plays Damien Darhk. During the second season, both Darhk and Snart worked together as members of the Legion of Doom. However, once they were defeated, Darhk was actually returned to 1987, while Snart was placed back into 2014 with his memory wiped clean, essentially giving him a chance to start fresh and setting him off on his path to be a part of the Legends of Tomorrow.
However, in season three of the series, audiences and the members of the team are going to be dealing with a whole new version of Captain Cold. In fact, according to Phil Klemmer, the Executive Producer for the Legends of Tomorrow, while Mick Rory is apparently going to need his old friend back, the version of his friend he ends up with is not going to be the one he remembers. With Wentworth Miller returning as a recurring member of the cast, playing an entirely new version of Leonard Snart, audiences can be sure that they will see plenty of chaos and even merriment ensuing.
While Captain Cold’s return will most likely offer up some humorous moments, things will definitely be different when it comes to Damien Darhk. Phil Klemmer shared that this new version of the villain is going to ultimately be less silly than previously seen and also much more formidable. With Neal McDonough set to return in season three as a series regular, one can only assume this means that he will definitely be coming up against the Legends of Tomorrow either as one of their bigger obstacles or even as their central villain.
Although both Wentworth Miller and Neal McDonough will be rejoining the series for more adventures during season three, there is also the matter of Rip Hunter that the team will have to deal with as well. Now that Rip has left the Legends and is the head of the Time Bureau, his former team will ultimately be going up against him, even as they all look to do the right thing in terms of saving the world.
Whatever happens on season three of Legends of Tomorrow, it certainly seems as if there is bound to be plenty of adventures and hijinks. Much like the first two seasons, the team will have plenty of mistakes to fix, even if those mistakes are because of their own meddling with time.
Are you excited to see both Wentworth Miller and Neal McDonough returning for season three? Is there anyone else you want to see return to the series? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
