If you are craving a movie about Apple, and the Steve Jobs flick can only be watched so many times, no fear. Monday there will be a new film released staring a bigwig at the iPhone maker and a former professional wrestler. No, we are not joking. Siri, everyones favorite digital assistant, or unfavorite bad listener, is teaming up with not only a former professional wrestler, but a former professional wrestler turned biggest movie star in the world, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Seriously. Stop laughing, we are not pulling your leg.
The film, if you want to call it that, is titled The Rock x Siri: Dominate The Day. A team-up between Apple and Johnson, it is more of an long commercial, like what the iPhone maker and Taylor Swift did for Apple Music last year. Unlike the cringeworthy Swift clips last year, the movie/commercial drives with a crazy looking, action packed movie poster showing a stage, Chinese lanterns, cars, and space. It just looks crazy.
Turning to Siri, she seems to be playing dumb about the film. Asking her, “What is The Rock cooking?” yields no inside to the film or what it is about. Siri is really keeping her lips sealed about the project, even with it less than 24 hours away from release.
The Rock is a little more forthcoming about the project. On his Facebook page, the former WWE champion says the film will be the dopest. He states that it was made as a motivation to get people out there and get work done. The Rock has a history of motivation behind him. While in high school, his father, a professional wrestler, was not making enough money to provide for their family, and even though his mother was working too, they found themselves homeless. But The Rock had a dream to play football, and after playing in college and getting hurt, he focused on pro wrestling and went through years of hearing chants of “Rocky sucks.” He never gave up, worked hard, and became a superstar for the WWE, a multiple time World Champion, and then moved on to Hollywood, where he has become the biggest movie star in the world.
The premier of The Rock x Siri: Dominate The Day is Monday on the Apple’s YouTube page, not Apple Music as one would expect. At least, unlike most Apple products or Dwayne Johnson films, this movie will be free to view.
