Kim Kardashian is under fire from fans and critics alike after she posted two Snapchat videos in which she defended Jeffree Star, the makeup mogul who was caught on video using racial slurs. The makeup mogul even came under fire from fans of Kardashian after he criticized the star’s makeup line recently.
In her Snapchats, Kim Kardashian asked her followers and fans to “move on” from Jeffree Star’s past comments. While she did acknowledge that it is a “serious deal” to use racial slurs against anyone, she suggested that people need to give Star another chance because she feels that their distaste for the other man is “petty.”
Kim Kardashian said that she believes that people can change and that when people apologize, even for the bad things that they say, then they should be given another chance. She said that for her she plans to give “people the benefit of the doubt.” Kardashian even said that she better than anyone else understands what it is like when people continually bring up her past mistakes, so she believes that everyone needs to just “let him live.”
In another video that the reality TV star posted, she said that she never stands behind people who are racist because she is very much against racism. However, she said that if people say that they have changed then she wants to give them a second chance because she would hope that they have changed for her children and friends’ sake.
Once Kim Kardashian’s videos began spreading across social media, her fans and critics alike took to Twitter in order to share their viewpoints on the situation, according to the New York Daily News. Many people said that they did not believe it was Kardashian’s place to tell people that they need to back off of Jeffree Star, while others said she should not be commenting on racial issues.
Fans of Star, however, were quick to offer their appreciation of Kardashian’s defense of the makeup mogul. Even Jeffree Star himself commented about the reality TV star, although not in regards to her apparent defense of his actions.
After receiving so much backlash from fans, Kim Kardashian followed up her comments with an apology to those upset by her words. She told her followers that she apparently did not “know enough” about the situation to really offer up a defense. She even said that it was not her place to weigh in on racial slurs.
While Kim Kardashian might be backtracking from her videos defending Jeffree Star, it seems as if the damage has once more done. What do you think of her defense of Star? What do you think of her response to fans who called her out for the videos? Tell us what you think in the comments section.
